Novices struggle to understand professional web architectures ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ. Professional sites can be good learning resources because they are inspectable ๐Ÿง, include up to date techniques and best practices ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป, and donโ€™t need to be maintained ๐Ÿ‘ท. We donโ€™t yet understand the ways that different classes of sensemaking tools, namely graphical and debugging tools, can help novices explore these sites and learn ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿฟโ€๐ŸŽ“ about their implementations. While graphical systems have been shown to help novices understand asynchronous architectures, they havenโ€™t been tested against the popular debugging tools that novices already use to inspect the frontend of websites and learn about details of real time data flow ๐Ÿšฐ and visual updates.
